Happy Thursday, Today our special guest is Darci Dare. Darci is from Cleveland Ohio. I have gotten know Darci through various questions and I have found her to be such an EMPOWERING and INSPIRING person! She wants you to know that Cleveland is Expressionistic, Courageous, Rebellious, Funky, and Cultural!
When I asked Darci Dare what empowerment meant to her, I was graced by this lovely quote. This quote to me is a symbol of how Darci has approached life, photography, her style, and her new shop Dare Thrift.
My empowerment comes from Our Deepest fear by Marianne Williamson…
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Are you feeling intellectually intrigued after reading this quote because I am!? Not only is Darci very intellectual but I woman of many many talents and passions. When she’s not being inspired by the streets of Cleveland OH, she is giving women confidence through her store Dare Thrift!
Darci has a undying love for photography. As early as elementary school Darci was walking around with a disposable camera in hand catching all her inspiration. For photography, it’s a passion that found her and is an extension of her creativity mindset! Darci is inspired to capture a moment when she can’t express it through words. Darci uses photography to show the beauty and have proof that “yes she witnessed that” in a moment. I believe that her passion to capture the moment with a picture and not words is EMPOWERING. It is hard to express a certain amount of beauty through words. I believe it is harder to express through pictures but Darci has an uncanny eye to capture what someone is feeling through her photography. I admire this talent.
Keeping Taking it to the Streets in touch with its roots her is a little about The Dare Style Factor!
We gathered that inspirations is a founding factor in a lot that Darci’s does. Her style is inspired by her body, Her body is her canvas and her style is mirrored through what she feels on a daily basis. Although her clothes are a reflection of her environment she still adds a bohemian feel to her overall look but definitely loves a mix of styles. “Make people look a little closer” is the tip Darci wants to leave with us. Darci wants to be able to make people look beyond outer shell and see what is not easily perceived. Her style is unique to her and that’s what I love about personal style especially if you can express it through words and then actually see it in the person.
I have mentioned Darci’s many talents but the one I admire is her entrepreneurial spirit. Darci is the owner of Dare Thrift! With Dare Thrift Darci wants to express herself with worlds and deliver the message to save clothes and women’s self esteem. The mission of Dare Thrift is on point!
Yes. I decided to follow my heart. I wanted to send the message that whatever your heart’s desire is… that is not only where your happiness lies but your confidence as well. My heart and confidence lies in self-expression. Therefore, my clothes and photography have been the most effective ways for me to express myself. Dare Thrift was created to show women of all ages that if you have faith, believe in yourself and follow your heart, happiness, self – confidence and prosperity follow.
The reason I am selling used clothes is to save clothes but also to encourage women to save themselves. Keep safe/ rescue themselves from harm or danger by any means necessary.
When I planned this week to focus on EMPOWERMENT, I knew that Darci would be my special guest for this week. I find her to be EMPOWERING through her outlook on life, I read a quote by Maya Angelou that reminded me of Darci’s tenacity. Maya Angelou said “I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a bitch! You’ve got to go out and kick ass.” I believe that Darci is defiently doing that! She has an entrepreneurial spirit that is pure and comes from a deep rooted place. Darci’s entrepreneurial spirit comes from her grandfather who owned his business for over 60 years. She wants to his legacy of seeing people succeed in life and do better, Dare Thrift is built on a passion of Darci’s dreams to inspire and help others. I find this very empowering!
Head on over to see some of Darci Dare’s work and learn a little bit more of what makes her truly EMPOWERING!!!!
Love,
